Wrap your mind around this!

EVE Comes To Consoles As An Online Shooter

CCP have today taken the wraps off Dust 514, a "hybrid MMO/FPS" that not only brings the world of EVE Online to consoles, but somehow ties the game to the PC MMO as well.

Apparently the game will "interact directly" with the PC title, allowing console gamers to manually fight out the battles for planets that are part of the larger MMO conflict.

It will do this by combining FPS and RTS mechanics. The game is being worked on by CCP Shanghai, and there'll be more details announced during CCP's big fan get-together in Reykjavik, Iceland in October.

Are you getting what I'm getting? It's kind of existential in execution. Think about this . . . a game where not all the players are playing the same game . . . or having the same experience. Maybe as you are leveling some or all your "mobs" in an instance are your casual console players playing a game as a first shooter . . .

Think about it. Shirley, this means something!

That's right . . . aliens have better base!!!!!

Also . . . oddly enough . . . universal health care, but they are actually coming to the United States for treatment. It's an odd universe.

  1. I've really been digging this idea all day. Take Hellfire Ramparts . . .

You start off as the first mob . . . let the player control the entire pull. As you win each round you move up until you actually get to play as the boss in the instance.

You could replace the artificial intelligence with actual intelligence. You could use different motivations of players to remove the repetition from the game. You could setup an entire competition and bracket system as the defenders of the instance . . . and an attacker of an instance could even choose if they wanted to do the AI or which of available player defended instances based on rank they wanted to attempt . . . with loot and experience skewed based on the challenge.

    This is a game changer.

  2. Stop calling me Shirley...

Yes, that would be really fine. .. although .. what's to stop it from becoming like a bad BG experience (lols, is that redundant?)

New expansh coming. They are gonna terraform the land (eg, Desolace gets green). Some new races and talents. Eric finally put aside his authenticator to start his dissertation.

Sarah is a lvl 80 DK (and learning to drive: look out!)
